I’m flattered that the folks over at Okay Africa, and my good friend Eddie Stats asked me to put together the inaugural mix for both the Okayafrica Mix Series, and the re-vamped Ghetto Palms column. I really enjoyed making this mix.
My goal, as with many of my other mixes, was to cover as much ground as possible within the concept presented. This one being contemporary music from and influenced by Africa, I was able to hit Malian Crunk-Rap to Angolan Samba-Kuduro, and I think the songs included are a testament to the amazing quality and diversity of the work from African artists in recent years.
I hope you enjoy:
*Also, thanks to Omar Shanti and Sherif Mansour for handling the Intro!
