Okay Africa recently did a profile on yours truly.
African in New York is here! And I’m also proud to present my first every music video, the NY edition of “Without Money No Family.” I shot and edited it myself, taking some footage from the original clip, I’m happy to see the final result but anxious to hear what people think about it.
Buy African in New York as a partial album on iTunes, and at a few other digital retailers. The full album will be a physical version with a special bonus track available sometime soon!
The Afro-Spectacle is now streaming online. Listen back to an entertaining evening of collective music video watching. If you missed it the first time, the good news is it looks like we’re going to make this a regular thing.

This Wednesday, DJ Rupture, Lamin Fofana, and Scheme from Old Money and I will be presenting our favorite African music videos culled from the streets of New York, as well as screening Femi Agbayewa’s Nollywood-American hybrid movie God’s Own Country.
This will be part of a series of events held at the Spectacle theater, in conjunction with Rupture’s Mudd Up radio show on WFMU. There’s a 30 person capacity, so come early! If you can’t make it you can listen to us live on the air, or in the show’s archived podcast.

Dutty Artz will be back at The Cove this Friday! Geko, Tally, and Jace are all back to the party from trips touching down all over the world. Add that to my West Africa trip and we’ll have Ghana, Egypt, Morroco, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Croatia, Spain, Colombia, Venezuela, South Africa, Jamaica, Brazil, Argentina, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The UAE all represented. Dutty Artz is global, and you’re gonna get a taste of that through the music we all play. Don’t miss it!

Tomorrow night, Afrique Sessions continues at Sutra. I’ll be playing again, with a special invited guest performing from Paris, Maimouna Coulibaly. Maimouna wrote, directed, starred in, and choreographed the play I was a part of a couple years ago in San Francisco. She’s back in the states to perform her latest play, and teach dance workshops for a few months again in the Bay Area.
Make sure not to miss this one night New York appearance!
Tonight at Sutra Lounge in the East Village, DJ Sirak of Africology, and I will DJing a party to raise funds for Merkato the movie. Come check us out, and support what seems like will be an amazing documentary!
