On the anniversary of Biggie Smalls’ death, I’ll be playing Sonic Diaspora at The Shrine in Chicago, alongside the People’s DJ Collective.

“African in New York” is going to be available for sale tomorrow. I made a mix to promote in on XLR8R. Check Podcast 234. I have some other special things I’m excited to share tomorrow for the release.
The EU tour continues this weekend. Here’s a video of the change between Mele and I in Paris. Meles opener kills!
More up hopefully soon.

I’m headed to France and Germany to play music, come see me if you are going to be where I am.
I’m going to kick the trip off in Brooklyn on February 16th with Paleta @Bembe alongside DJ Eko.
Then I fly to Paris for HELL YEAH! Tropical Madness @Batofar w/ Mele + Patamix DJ’s, Saturday February 18th (flyer above).
Then I’m rounding it out with three dates in Germany:

I’m headed to Montreal this weekend. If you’re going to be in town come through to the Nuit D’Afrique! This will be my first time being on the home turf of the Masala crew, and I’m very much looking forward to it!

DJ Ripley has arrived in NY for good, and she’s throwing a party to celebrate!
February 3rd at Public Assembly.
This will be the first in a series of events trying to bring together revolutionary thought, practice, and music in once space. The Williamsburg version of a Jamaican street dance, perhaps?
Join us! Facebook.

This Wednesday, DJ Rupture, Lamin Fofana, and Scheme from Old Money and I will be presenting our favorite African music videos culled from the streets of New York, as well as screening Femi Agbayewa’s Nollywood-American hybrid movie God’s Own Country.
This will be part of a series of events held at the Spectacle theater, in conjunction with Rupture’s Mudd Up radio show on WFMU. There’s a 30 person capacity, so come early! If you can’t make it you can listen to us live on the air, or in the show’s archived podcast.

Sam Hilmer, my friend from the band Z’s, and who I met at the Beacon for Arts and Leadership in Bushwick, is having me down to Zebulon for the second time after XYZsmas. This time it’s for PRACTICE! his bi-weekly community music workshop/gig night.
Come thru! Tuesday January 31st. Facebook here.

Okay wrong season. But it’s a busy pre-holidays weekend for me in NY before a long break from the cold city. A couple club gigs, and a couple holiday parties including the always fun middle school dance (at the Beacon!). Then I’m headed to the Bay Area for the month of January, so California family see you soon!
Friday night is the regular Dutty Artz Sweat Lodge, this time with everybody’s favorite, prodigal NY DJ Jess Jubilee!
And then on Saturday Jess and I continue our marathon run at SOB’s for the 1st ever, Geko Jones organized Just the Tip of feminism Soundclash. The rules? Women artists only. You too can participate in the warm-up Twitter clash during tomorrow’s #YoutubeDivas hashtag marathon on Twitter!

Lastly, next Tuesday will be the Z’s Holiday party at Zebulon.
